INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING MEET “ENERGY STANDARD CUP 2016”

The swimming meet was organized by “Energy Standard” Club with the support of the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) and under the aegis of the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN).

The tournament was an official qualifying event for the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

A total of 210 athletes competed in the event from the teams of the United Kingdom, France, Italy and “Energy Standard” Club. For the first time the Open category was introduced into the event program. Some of the world swimming stars swam for “Energy Standard”: the eleven-time world champion and record holder, the “Iron Lady” Katinka Hosszú from Hungary, a medalist at European championships Louis Croenen from Belgium, a medalist at the World Championship 2015 in Kazan Sharon van Rouvendal from the Netherlands, top athletes of Ukraine: Daryna Zevina, Andrii Govorov, Mykhailo Romanchuk, and of Russia: Yevgeny Rylov, Anton Chupkov, Rosaliya Nasretdinova, Yevgeny Koptelov.

The team Italy included European medalists Gabriele Detti and Simone Sabbioni, while France was represented by Ophélie-Cyrielle Étienne, the 2012 Olympic bronze winner, and podium-place winners at European championships Anthony Pannier, Justine Bruno.

Among the event’s featured guests of honor were Dmytro Kachurovskyi, President of Ukrainian Swimming Federation, Roberto del Bianco, a Board Member of the Italian Swimming Federation, Mayor of Lignano Sabbiadoro Luca Fanotto, the founder and Head Coach of “ADN SwimProject” Andrea Di Nino.

The event had a total prize money fund of 150 000 EUR.

Italy, Lignano Sabbiadoro, the swimming pool complex of “Ge.TUR” Village
A total of 160 sportsmen from 4 teams competed in the meet: “Energy Standard” Club, teams from the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany. The meet was organized and run by “Energy Standard” Swimming Club in cooperation with the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN). In the year 2015 the competition was listed as official on the LEN Event Calendar (The Ligue Européenne de Natation).
The event was attended by guests of honor, among them President of the Italian Swimming Federation Paolo Barelli, Chairman of British Swimming Maurice Watkins, British Swimming Chief Executive David Sparkes, General Secretary of Ukrainian Swimming Federation, Member of FINA Technical Swimming Committee and LEN Member Andrii Vlaskov, Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) Board Member Roberto Del Bianco, Head of Moscow Department for Swimming Anatoliy Novikov, Head Coach of National Swimming Team of Ukraine Andrii Serdinov, world champion and record holder, silver medalist at London Olympics 2012 Yevgeniy Korotyshkin, two-time champion of Europe and bronze medalist of World Championship in 50m butterfly Andrii Govorov.
Based on the final team ranking the “Energy Standard 2015” Cup was awarded to team Italy, which scored 1576 points. Falling far behind from team Italy, the second place was taken by the team from the United Kingdom with 1376 points. The bronze went to “Energy Standard” Club with 1335 points.

200 athletes from 5 teams participated in the races: “Energy Standard” Club team and national teams of Hungary, Italy, Russia and Spain. Among the honored guests present were President of Russian Swimming Federation Salnikov Vladimir Valerievich, President of Moscow Swimming Federation Filonov Alexey Yurievich, President of Ukrainian Swimming Federation Dmytro Kachurovskyi. The meet was attended by Olympic champions and medal winners: Alexander Popov, four-time Olympic champion, Yevheniy Korotyshkin, Yurii Prilukov, Anastasia Zueva and Sergey Fesikov.
80 medal sets were played at the meet.

A total of 120 athletes aged 13 to 16 participated from “Energy Standard” Club team, National teams of Italy and France, regional team of Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia). Among the invited guests were President of European Swimming League (LEN) Paolo Barelli, Italian coach and manager of “Energy Standard” Swimming Club Andrea Di Nino, American coach Dave Salo, four-time Olympic champion Yana Klochkova, swimming champion and record holder Andriy Govorov.
Records set at the meet are: Andriy Khloptsov, a member of “Energy Standard” team, set a new national record among 15 y.o. men in Ukraine for 50m butterfly with a time of 24,70 seconds.

80 swimmers – women aged 13-15 and men 14-16 – competed in the dual meet between Russian club “Dinamo-Moscow” and Ukrainian club “Meteor”.
Records set at the meet are: Mykola Abramov 400m freestyle – 4.06,9 (a national record among 15 y.o. men in Ukraine). Mykyta Poliakh 200m medley – 2.19,9 (a national record among 14 y.o. men in Ukraine).
